"Million Miles Away" is the fifth track on The Offspring's 2000 sixth album, Conspiracy of One, and was released as the third and last single to promote the album.

Chart performance

"Million Miles Away" was released as a single on June 26, 2001, seven months after the release of Conspiracy of One. Although "Million Miles Away" failed to chart anywhere but Australia, Poland, Switzerland and the UK, it is fairly popular among many Offspring fans, often called the best song on Conspiracy of One. Aside from being a stronger song, this also may be because it is less deliberately mainstream than the previous two singles and also has a more serious subject matter. However, it is rarely played live and remains one of their less well-known singles.

Lyrics

There was a time, looking through myself
Wanting to pretend
If I escaped, I could fill myself
I don't think you can
Been far and wide
But that hole inside
Never really leaves
I went away, what I really left
Left behind was me

It's telling me
To be on my way home
Million miles away
I can't stay
I can't stay
Million miles away

Each passing day, every passing face
Seems like such a blur
I long to be
Home, silently
Lying next to her
Just to get back, by her side is all
All I need to be
I went away
But what I really left
Left behind was me

I need to be
Getting on my way home
A million miles away
Million miles away
I can't take
I can't take
Million miles away

It's telling me
To be on my way home
I can't take
I can't take
Million miles away
I can't take
I can't take
Million miles away
I can't take
I can't take
Million miles away
I can't take
I can't take
Million miles away
I can't take
I can't take
Million miles away
I can't take
I can't take
Million miles away
