KROQ is a commercial rock music radio station in Los Angeles, California, broadcasting on 106.7 FM. The call sign is pronounced "kay rock." They usually play modern rock music, including alternative, indie, grunge, metal and even punk. KROQ is known for promoting The Offspring and airing their music (just about all their singles from 1994 to present) as well as hosting their performances at the Weenie Roast, Almost Acoustic Christmas and Inland Invasion festivals.
Connections to The Offspring
- In order to promote Smash, Epitaph Records founder and Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz reportedly sent a promo copy of The Offspring's single "Come Out and Play" to KROQ, who immediately played the song on heavy rotation. "Come Out and Play" is the song that gave The Offspring worldwide fame, and even today, it still gets airplay on KROQ.
